Automated Pouring System Produces a 4% Yield Improvement

The Dotson Company recently completed a major expansion for its metal pouring line that includes the new automated Econo-Pour system from Roberts Sinto Corporation of Lansing , MI .

According to Denny Dotson, President of The Dotson Company, Mankato , MN , “Roberts Sinto Corporation'sEcono-Pour automated, hot metal pouring system has dramatically reduced our metal waste during pouring and provided a 4 % shop yield improvement. This reduction comes primarly from reduced overpours that happen during manual pouring. This is a full 4%. So, depending on how it is calculated, it could be said that it is a 33% reduction in waste. We are always looking for ways to reduce costs and improve productivity. In our pouring line we were looking for a way to ensure consistency in pouring hot metal from our first to last mold. Roberts Sinto's Econo-Pour automated pouring system provides us with that consistency.”

Controls Are Easy To Monitor
Jed Falgren, Manufacturing Vice President P.E. for the The Dotson Company said, “ We like the controls on the Econo-Pour system. It allows a much better view of the processing system such as speed, cooling time and other factors that allow us to monitor all of the on-going procedures.”
